Now I know why snorkelling is such a big thing in Koh Tao, it’s so blue and so much fun!! A full day of sunbathing and swimming with tropical fish in the clearest waters I’ve ever seen was definitely a day well spent.
We took the full day trip with Oxygen Tour starting at Mae Haad Pier and it was fab, I would highly recommend doing the trip. We made four stops throughout the day and were able to swim in different waters and see so many fish. The tour stopped at Lighthouse Bay, Hin Wong Bay, Nang yuan Island and Sharks Bay all of which were completely different experiences.
Lighthouse Bay was home to a huge school of silver fish which was amazing to see. Hin Wong Bay had such deep blue water and was really peaceful, with so many colourful fish and soft and hard coral. Sharks bay, although the weather took a turn for the worst on the way there with what felt like the choppiest water in the world, was home to turtles and black tip reef sharks. Nang yuan Island was literal paradise! It was by far my favourite part of the trip.
With an entry fee of 100bht, a ban on plastic bottles and laying down beach towels, as well as steps to wash your feet in, the private island has been preserved and was so pretty! The view point was amazing although even a whole bottle of bug spray couldn’t have helped up there. The shallow diving site of the Japanese gardens was so clear and was surrounded by hot white sand. It was full of coral and multi-coloured parrot fish!!
As well as the snorkelling, the experience on the boat was great too. We were assigned a snorkel and wristband with a number and were checked on and off the boat each time we left to swim. The staff were really informative and helpful, and told us of timings and the best places to swim and what to expect. There were drinks and fruit on board as well as lunch provided, and hotel pick up and drop off was also included.
It was so much fun!!
