Lake District day trip

Lake District day trip

Spending my Sunday’s going on rainy day trips is a common occurrence for me and this weekend was no exception apart from it was my two year anniversary with Innes. We decided to take a day trip to the Lakes. It couldn’t have been more of a miserable day weather wise as it was constantly raining from the moment we set off but it was one of the happiest and most relaxing days in a while.

After breakfast in Lancaster we took the train towards Oxenholme and changed for a train to Windemere. When we got there we had no idea where we were going or wanted to go so we followed signs to Bowness on Windemere pointing us in the direction of the lake. We took a long downhill walk to the lake, saw lots of birds and then went in the arcade to get warm.

We walked back up towards the town and stopped off at a tiny cafe. It had undercover seats, outdoor heaters, cushions and blankets at each table and was really cosy. We stayed there for a while and both got hot chocolates and didn’t want to move!

We also took a look in the local old fashioned cinema to see if there were any good films on but couldn’t really find anything so decided to go to the cinema once we got back to Lancaster.

As the weather was getting worse and it was getting dark early we got the train back to Lancaster and spent the rest of the evening eating and relaxing! Next time we visit I hope its sunny so we can go kayaking and have a bbq.
