Barcelona round 2

Barcelona round 2

Turning 21 was a good enough excuse for another holiday so I chose a city break to Barcelona with friends to celebrate. I had visited Barcelona at the start of 2014, so I knew a bit about the city and was able to remember where some of the main sights were. We had booked an apartment which was in the middle of Las Ramblas so were right in the centre of the city.

We wanted to sight see, eat, drink and celebrate and that’s exactly what we did. It was quite hot and sunny considering it was mid September and I was on a step count mission so decided to make the most of it and walk most places. We made a few trips down to Port Vell and the shopping centre and found a few nice cafes with great views of expensive yachts and took a trip to the aquarium which was really impressive and a good way to spend an afternoon. We also visited the city park, the Sagrada Familia and Gaudi buildings all in one huge walk.

The week was full of such nice food, a lot of cocktails, sangria and dining outside. La Poma on Las Ramblas was a fancy Italian and we found many small tapas cafes and restaurants. We just had to take a visit to the hard rock cafe but I couldn’t taste anything that day so I missed out.

On the last full day we walked quite a way to Barcelona Nou Camp football stadium and the boys went inside for a tour. In the afternoon we walked down to the beach which was busy and full of street performers. That evening we went to the magic fountain of montjuic which was amazing!! The fountain was huge and so colourful and was set to dance to the music being played, it was so different to anything I had ever seen before and was a great way to end the holiday and the summer!
