1st time in Rome? Top 10 places and spaces to visit

Although ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ the good news is, it’s easy to see a lot in a short space of time if you find the right areas. Being a city which is full of history, home to the pope, a film location hot spot and full of vespa’s and smart cars, there is something for everyone.  View Post

Snow and the city – Why you should visit Oslo during winter

If Norway being voted the happiest country in the world in 2017 doesn’t catch your attention enough to book a flight, or the fact that it’s capital was listed as one of Lonely Planets top 10 cities to visit this year, then hopefully this post will make you want to go and see for yourself.

NYE in a new city

I always find it good to spend time somewhere new, even if it’s only a few hours away from home. Any excuse is a good enough one to go somewhere different, so a road trip to Cardiff to welcome in the new year was just that.

For some reason Wales has been our weekend break of choice three times in the past few months and it was pretty much like the other times we visited as it involved a lot of walking and even more sleeping. Although we were only there for two nights it feels so good to have recharged after a busy festive week and an even busier year.

As per, we found a little air b n b just outside the city and just wanted to wander around and eat so that’s what we did. Google told us what there was to do so our plans were pretty much made, we walked around the lake in Roath park, wandered through winter wonderland, had a nosy at the castle, watched the midnight firework display, finished watching making a murder when the rain was pouring down, and ate at two really nice restaurants ..the cinnamon tree and the grazing shed.

On route home we stopped in the little village of Llanfoist and walked a few miles along the canal route to start the year as we mean to go on..out in the fresh air, wandering and planning ahead.

There’s something about new year’s day that I love but I cant quite pin down what it is, (it’s definitely not the diet) but I always cross my fingers that it is the start of another year full of adventures and happiness. Aus/ NZ? Edinburgh’s Hogmany festival? Who knows where we will be next NYE.
