Lanzarote – Where volcano’s, cacti and palm trees are everywhere

Lanzarote – Where volcano’s, cacti and palm trees are everywhere

I have no idea where this post went amiss, however in September, a day after coming back from Kilimanjaro, I went on holiday with my family to Puerto Del Carmen in Lanzarote. I was finally able to spend a week relaxing and recharging as well as catching some much needed September sunshine!

The norm on our family holidays is playing bat and ball, going out for meals, swimming in the pool, going on daily walks and filling ourselves with food and this is exactly what we did. Over the week cocktails, sangria, 2 euro breakfasts and cakes became a common theme and we all became obsessed with sun-cream.

I spent over half of the holiday sunbathing by the pool of the apartment and reading The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks and it was so good. The girls and I did make a few trips out, we went to Cactus Gardens and to the beaches close by. One afternoon we all rented bikes and rode along the beaches and another day we went and visited family friends at their villa and had a BBQ by the pool!

We have been to Lanzarote before and the weather is pretty good all year round but is quite windy. I like it because you don’t get too hot even when it is really sunny, that’s probably why they sell Aloe Vera everywhere because people get so burnt.

I am so glad we went away even after all the other trips I had taken this summer. I wasn’t ready to come home, but I never am when I go away now but after living out of a case for the past month and thinking about my new job which starts soon, I couldn’t help but plan for the new times ahead.

I guess you can’t always be on holiday can you?!
