With comfy shoes, gloves and a hat at the ready, a day in Edinburgh flew by after wandering through the cobbled streets of the old town, visiting the cities sights and the Christmas Markets.
When everything is close by and the weather is on your side, so much can be done in one day. From walking up to the monuments on Carlton Hill, to overlooking the old town roofs and the Georgian New Town from the Castle gates, to finding hidden boutiques, cafes and pubs along Rose Street and George Street.
After browsing around the Royal Mile indoor market, Jenner’s department store and the Scottish National Gallery, the whole city felt to be in the Christmas spirit. Princes Street Gardens were lined with Christmas Markets and rides from Waverley Station and other festive events like the street of lights were spread across the city.
There was no better way to spend a winters day than being surrounded by shortbread, tartan scarves and bagpipes in Scotland’s capital.
A Christmas trip to Edinburgh should be on everyone’s list, it is without a doubt one of the prettiest cities in the U.K.
